The Dolley Madison Garden Club requested and received from the Shenandoah-Potomac Garden Council a small grant of one-thousand dollars. The purpose of the grant was to develop a garden that would complement the Happy Retreat sign at the historical Charles Washington mansion located at 600 Mordington Avenue, Charles Town, WV. Both perennial and annual plants that would withstand drought, cold, and deer were selected. The Dolley Madison Garden Club completed this garden project in April 2024.
